After an eponymous four-track 7” vinyl released two years ago on Hidden Bay Records and RDS Rec HH, Parisian outfit Hobby returns with six new songs. The band excels at writing catchy indie rock melodies which instantly warm you up by knitting their slacker spirit with an enthusiastic pop urgency.

“Six songs is the perfect number for a six-track record!” said the drummer, while the band was discussing the ideal number of songs to record. How can you beat this kind of self persuasion? This is how Hobby conceived their “Nombre parfait EP” [literally “The Perfect Number”]. But behind the jokes and catchy choruses, the songs deal with more pessimist issues.

This EP was conceived in reaction to the creation of a former, unfinished album which was slowed down for numerous reasons, grinding the band down to a point where everything seemed tedious and discouraging. This episode was followed by some major life changes for everyone in the band, making it all the more important to turn a new page and start afresh with all-new songs. The whole EP was recorded on the spot in a very short period of time and almost 100% live.
