Radical Kitten is a rrriot post-punk trio from Toulouse. Their second album ‘Uppercat’ (available January 26th) follows their first release ‘Silence is Violence’ with their trademark energetic back-andforth between guitar, bass, drums and chanted vocals. Sonic Youth, Le Tigre and ESG remain guiding lights. Exploring topics such as feminism, empowerment and consent, these new tracks maintain a healthy aggression while allowing the listener a glimpse into a more pop oriented facet of their sound.

‘Uppercat’ was recorded in three days in the countryside of Périgord in Summer 2022, and is their last recording with Marion on drums. The band has since welcomed Lambert (from Ultra demon and Derinëgolem) through their cat flap before hitting the road again, with no fewer than 50 shows in 2023. Don’t get fooled by the kitten imagery: when on stage, this band is as flammable as a Molotov cocktail!

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
